Last Friday I attended the Author Academy Awards Gala at the Hilton Polaris in Columbus, Ohia. The awards are part of the Igniting Souls Conference which carried on over the weekend.
Part of the processes included pitching our story to a panel of judges (and also in front of our peers). I must say, I impressed myself as I managed to do my pitch off script and didn’t stumble once.
The Awards night was fantastic. The ballroom was packed and everyone was dressed to the nines! I was up against some pretty terrific authors and wasn’t expecting the win. I must say, hearing my name called was a surprising, joyous moment. I am truly honored to win in the YA/MG category.
